Personality:
Setsuna doesn't have a can-do attitude. No, she has a will-do attitude. She wants that ice cream cone? Yeah, she'll get it. She might have to nab it, or she might have to mooch off of someone to get the money for it. She'd rather to the second, but the first isn't completely out of her mind. Setsuna doesn't care what 'people' think of her. She doesn't care that the 'entire Fourth Division hates her'  (for example). In fact, for the most part, she'd rather a good bit of people didn't like her. She'd like friends, but more than anything else right now—Setsuna wants to prove everyone wrong.

Setsuna has always been regarded as an outcast, someone who is 'burdened by the sins of the mother.' She is blacklisted from many high-end establishments just because of her mother's actions. Setsuna is called the same things as her mother—a whore, a slut, etc. It's one of the reasons Setsuna wears her Shihakkushou with the top of her breasts showing, as well as cutting the legs short. She wants people to think of her that way. The more people that get the wrong idea about Setsuna, the better.

All Setsuna really wants, though, is to be accepted. She thinks if she proves everyone wrong about her, it'll fix that. It actually isn't that bad of an idea, really. The problem is, Setsuna doesn't have a backup plan. She doesn't know what other people think of her, besides rumors and snickering she hears. She knows they call her the "Blue-Eyed Devil," among other crude names mentioned above. However, she doesn't know the good things people call her.

Setsuna will never abandon a friend. She just can't. She felt abandoned by her mother, and seeing someone in need like that makes her go 'tsundere' and say 'I-I'm not doing this to help you, you know!" She has a tough exterior, but every name she is called just burns in the idea that she isn't a good person. She tries to fight it, so she can prove them wrong.

Character Background:
Setsuna was born Setsuna Nakahara. The Nakahara family is one of the Four Great Noble Houses. Setsuna would, in fact, be the one to take over the position of next-in-line if something happened to the current heir. Well, she would if she were still part of the Nakahara. Setsuna's mother, Mariko, had married into the Nakahara. Her father was a stern man, who was, reportedly, a little lacking in the creativity department when it came to after dark fun time.

Mariko ended up cheating on her husband, Shinjirou. The man she cheated on was a shopkeep in North Rukongai. Mariko ended up getting pregnant with Setsuna while she was still cheating on Shinjirou. The affair was noted, but they had no idea whose child it was. Mariko wouldn't let them take a DNA test, as she denied the affair fervently. She had too much in the Nakahara, and she did love Shinjirou. She just had needs, and to her, Shinjirou couldn't fill them. The worst part was, the shopkeep was impotent. Setsuna is Shinjirou and Mariko's child. But no one knows that he was, not even the shopkeep.

Shinjirou divorced Mariko when Setsuna was three years old. He tried, but Setsuna's mere presence reminded him of his failure as a husband. Shinjirou committed suicide not long after the divorce, and Mariko and Setsuna were completely cut off from the Nakahara. The Nakahara believed Mariko forced Shinjirou to take his own life, so they blacklisted her. This, unfortunately, ended up blacklisting Setsuna too.

Setsuna eventually learned of the circumstances of her birth when the Nakahara approached her in secret. They asked for her to join the family again, as she was not an intended target of their banishment. Setsuna told them to go fuck themselves, and walked away. They weren't the ones that helped raise Setsuna. They weren't the ones that spent hours on end working to give Setsuna a good living. Her mother had died only a few weeks prior to her being approached—she was overworked and ill. If they had approached Setsuna before her mother fell ill, she might have joined them.

Instead, Setsuna wanted to prove that she could get to what they were, even with her stained pedigree. She crawled her way into the Gotei 13, pushing herself fast and hard to get to the 11th Division. She didn't take anyone's shit, not even her Captain's. She eventually worked her way up to the Lieutenant, getting her Shikai along the way. She feels if she becomes a Captain, it would be a good step into shoving the middle finger to the Nakahara. But, is that all she will end up doing?


Unreleased Abilities:
Zanjutsu: Setsuna isn't that bad with her Zanjutsu, and she is able to use it effectively even with her Shikai's spear form.
Hohō: Setsuna's second-best skill. She is above average for her level when it comes to using Hohō.
Kihei no Hōhō: (騎兵の方法; lit. Way of the Cavalry) Kihei no Hōhō is Setsuna's style of using Hohō to her advantage. It was taught to her by someone who was actually part of the Nakahara family, as it is their own personal style of Hohō. Setsuna did not know this, or else she would not have accepted. Kihei no Hōhō is best used with a spear or other polearm. Sometimes swords such as a standard European longsword or a Chinese jian could be used with it. Currently, Setsuna only knows the first two stances of Kihei no Hōhō.

• Daiichi Kamae—Gekireki: (第一構え—撃靂; lit. First Stance—Attacking Lightning ) The first stance of Kihei no Hōhō puts a lot of force into a single frontal charge. It involves using shunpo twice in quick succession, using one foot for each. It is tricky to get down timing-wise, and even worse, it puts the user at a disadvantage if it misses.
  
• Daini Kamae—Tsuikyū Ikazuchi: (第二構え—追求雷; lit. First Stance—Pursuing Thunder )  The second stance is designed to be a follow-up to Gekireki. It uses the same principle of Gekireki, the double usage of shunpo, to propel the user backwards after a lunge.
  

Hakuda: Setsuna is average with Hakuda.
Kaidō: Setsuna is below average with Kaidō.
Kidō: Setsuna is terrible with Kidō, and she prefers not to use it anyways.

Shikai Appearance: Hanakana becomes a spear about 6 and a half feet tall. It is warm to the touch, much like a nice, summer breeze.

Shikai Abilities: The only ability of Setsuna's Shikai is the ability to recall Hanakana to her hand from a maximum distance of 300 yards away.
