Character Information
Personality: The first thing to know about Tetsuya is that he is completely deaf. He can not hear you. He is not, however, a mute. Tetsuya CAN speak. But because he can not hear his own voice, it does come out somewhat slurred and hard to understand. It's a pain for him to speak, so he doesn't normally do it. In fact, when he does it, it's actually meant to be intimidation. People that know him say that they'd rather not hear him speak, because it generally means that someone's gonna die. It's also a little heartbreaking to hear him do that.
Tetsuya is like a policeman. Well, if your policemen are RoboCop/Terminator hybrids. Tetsuya doesn't believe in rehabilitation. He doesn't believe normal people can change. He believes that someone who is a criminal will always be a criminal, and they gotta be stopped—permenantly. Now, something ELSE to note is that a criminal isn't a criminal because he broke a country's law. To Tetsuya, a litterer, jaywalker, or even a public drunk isn't a criminal. They might be annoying, but they're not criminals. Now, a murderer, an abuser, a rapist, a drug dealer... Those are criminals. Those people, Tetsuya kills unless ordered not to. And then, they just get hurt badly.
Tetsuya is loyal to the guy who has hired him. Right now, that's Snopy Saika. For as long as Snopy has him hired and doesn't do something to outright harm Tetsuya, Tetsuya won't do anything to betray Snopy. This has actually helped strengthen what some would call a friendship between the two. Tetsuya doesn't entirely know the meaning of "friend," only "ally" and "boss." Other words like that he knows are "neutral," "civilian," and "enemy." He's not one that relies on normal societal conventions to get around. He won't hold the door for you, he won't offer to pay for your part of the meal, and he won't give you his cab.
Character Background: Tetsuya was not born deaf. He was not born a soul, either. Tetsuya isn't even Tetsuya's real name. It's just what he went by during the first part of his life that had any meaning to it. Tetsuya doesn't remember, or either doesn't speak about, his time alive. He shrugs it off if people ask. His time dead, however, was far more interesting. Some souls go to the Soul Society. Others become Hollows. But Tetsuya did neither. There was a rogue Shinigami who had fallen from grace and had been dishonorably discharged. His name was Makoto Iemasa. When he was dishonorably discharged, he fled to the World of the Living and began to work on his own "righteous calling." To those who play Dungeons and Dragons, he was a rogue paladin (no, not a rogue/paladin multi-class).
Tetsuya was one of the souls "saved" by Makoto. He was one of thirty, in fact. Makoto trained them like a Shinigami mixed with a police dog. They were forced to forget their names, and Makoto gave them new names. They were trained with absolute obedience, and any who defied Makoto were killed in front of everyone. These "hounds," as Makoto called them, were meant to find hollows, soon-to-be hollows, criminals, etc. and remove them. And for many, many years, it worked.
Tetsuya was almost a miracle for Makoto in that he already seemed to lack a care for undesirable elements. However, Tetsuya was a bit too lenient for Makoto's standards. Tetsuya had certain people he just didn't feel were "undesirable enough" to kill them. But considering he had such a stellar success rate otherwise, Makoto decided to "overlook" Tetsuya's leniency. Tetsuya grew stronger faster than the others, and even attained Shikai first. That was not something Makoto accounted for. But beyond that, there was something else brewing inside of Tetsuya...
Being around death and downright negativity all the time fucks with someone's soul. And Tetsuya's soul, which was already darkened by the lack of care he felt towards some people, was the first to go. One night, Tetsuya hollowfied. Makoto had no idea what to do, so he and his other 'hounds' held Tetsuya down with Kidō. After four hours, Tetsuya emerged victorious. He asked Makoto what just happened, and Makoto looked horrified at Tetsuya. Tetsuya had grown stronger than Makoto—and that terrified him. Makoto ordered Tetsuya's death. Knowing he had not done anything wrong, Tetsuya fought and killed his once-friends. Makoto released his Zanpakutō and tried to stop Tetsuya with a massive sonic attack. It didn't work. It only deafened Tetsuya.
Tetsuya continued doing what he did, although on a lesser scale, as a wanderer. He was a hound without a master, and slowly, his mind faded. Tetsuya never was able to merge in with normal folk, and souls seemed to steer away from him. But one day, Tetsuya was outnumbered in a fight against Hollow. He was even in Shikai with his Vizard mask on, but there were simply too many of them. He was about to die when someone with much more power than he had came in and saved him. Tetsuya tried to use sign language to communicate with the guy, but it didn't work. So he forced out speech, and thankfully, he could read the guy's lips.
Snopy Saika was his name, and he offered Tetsuya further help and employment. Tetsuya contemplated that, saw that he wasn't able to handle what he just did alone, and then nodded. Tetsuya has been unable to attain Bankai, as his Zanpakutō Spirit and him do not seem to get along much. However, Tetsuya and his Inner Hollow—which personifies the inner demons of Tetsuya—get along fantastic. By that, I mean that they yell at one another constantly, fight, but are never mad at one another. They don't hate each other, they're just angry people.
Racial Abilities
Unreleased Abilities: NOTE: As Tetsuya is not properly trained in Hakuda or Zanjutsu, the techniques he uses are more of a general weapon skill comparable to either.
Zanjutsu: Tetsuya's best skill, tied with Hakuda.
Hakuda: Tetsuya's best skill, tied with Zanjutsu.
Hohō: Tetsuya is above average with Hohō.
Kidō: He currently does not know much about Kidō.
Kaidō: He currently does not know anything about Kaidō.
Eyesight: Tetsuya has amazing eyesight to make up for his lack of hearing. He can read lips from across a football field, for example.
Languages: Tetsuya can speak the sign language of English, Japanese, German, Arabic, Farsi (Persian), and Russian. He can also understand those languages when spoken mostly, due to being able to accurately read lips.
Deafness: Tetsuya is completely deaf. This means things that rely on hearing will not affect him.
Other Weapons: None.
Zanpakutō
Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance:
Zanpakutō Spirit's World: Tetsuya has not actually seen the majority of his Zanpakutō spirit's world. He actually has only been on the bridge that leads to the massive castle. He has to convince Chidorigōshi to let him in, and he's been unsuccessful at doing so.
Zanpakutō:
Zanpakutō Release Phrase: "Bite" Note: Tetsuya does not need to speak to release his Zanpakutō. His Zanpakutō spirit understands his deafness.
Shikai
Shikai Name: Chidorigōshi (千鳥格子; lit. Houndstooth)
Shikai Appearance:
Shikai Abilities: (Note: Chidorigōshi and Tetsuya do NOT get along, so they don't talk much, so there hasn't been much in terms of development involving his Zanpakutō abilities)
Stat Boost: +10 to strength and durability.
Bankai
Bankai Name: Not Yet Achieved
Bankai Appearance:
Bankai Abilities:
Inner Hollow
Inner Hollow Appearance:
Inner Hollow Personality: Tetsuya's inner hollow makes up for Tetsuya's silence. Even while sitting still, it makes noise. Granted, that's not a personality thing, that's just how his inner hollow do. Tetsuya's Inner Hollow is just loud. He speaks in a voice that's comparable to a semi's horn. And that's him talking normally. He's obnoxious, arrogant, and kind of just wants to see things get killed. More specifically, he wants to see what makes 'em tick. He wants gore, violence, and all sorts of "fun things" around him. Because Tetsuya normally provides such "services," he doesn't try to force his way out. But when Tetsuya holds back, it's hard to keep his inner hollow in control.
Hollow Mask
Hollow Mask Appearance:
Hollow Abilities: Tetsuya has forgone trying to train with his Zanpakutō and instead focused more on his Hollow aspects.
Enhanced Stats: While his Hollow Mask is on, Tetsuya has a +30 to the following: Strength, Speed, Agility. He also gains a +40 to Durability.
Called Weapon: Tetsuya can call his Zanpakutō back to him for a distance of up to one mile away while his Hollow Mask is on. It travels at 240 miles per hour, meaning his Zanpakutō will take up to 15 seconds to appear in his hand.
Cero/Bala: Tetsuya is not an energy specialist, but that doesn't mean his Ceros are weak. Frankly, his Ceros are just wild. When they explode, there small bits of 'energy fragments' that fly out from the explosion, causing minor wounds.
Scent: Tetsuya gains the ability to smell exceptionally well, better than even a trained dog can.
