Personality: Reika Yamanaka is easily described as an eccentric. The term "mad scientist" doesn't entirely describe her, but some people think that's where she's headed. Reika has a fascination with the World Of The Living and  Hueco Mundo. She desires more knowledge about these different realms and is one to dissect until she can fully understand. Reika is the woman who would sacrifice for science. She has no problem harming a few in order to benefit the many, but often forgets where she should draw her own line. Reika is not evil and doesn't try to be that way, but her ambitions often blind her. She'll end up so concentrated on one thing that she doesn't see the harm around her.

Reika is extremely intelligent, out classing most people who try to challenge her knowledge. She has no problem accepting challenges just to prove herself correct. If she doesn't know something or is proven wrong, she studies it until she understands it fully. Since she had a one track mind, someone else will have to stop her knowledge seeking endeavor. Reika hates being corrected or proven wrong. She's normally a quiet and soft spoken woman, but being corrected has caused her problems. She has the reputation of a woman who snaps the moment you dare tell her differently. Many in her Division often don't question her directly because of it and have to cleverly get her to the right answer.

Though she's really weird and can be scary because of her work, Reika is surprisingly fun. She can get into really enjoyable moods. She likes having conversations. She also can get a little bubbly at times, showing a bit of an excited cute side of herself. Things to note about her when she does this is that she's had a lot of sugar. Reika loves sweets. Cakes, cookies, candy, brownies, smoothies, soda, and any other kind of sweet junk food is often found in her desk, around her work place, and fills up her cabinets at home. People often have to monitor her diet for her, otherwise she sneaks in chocolate and anything else that can satisfy that sweet tooth. It's very difficult to handle her sugar high.

Character Background: Reika was born under one of the lesser noble houses, so she never knew the bad part of the Rukongai or any part of the World Of The Living. She was raised as the third daughter and fifth child of the Yamanaka Clan, so she was never that big of a deal. Unlike her older siblings, she was a little freer. She was very lonely as a child, so she made friends with a man who taught her to love learning. Through him, she became fascinated with hollow and Arrancar. She helped him study them and learned to disect them at a young age. The man she was working with was the current Twelfth Division Captain of the Gotei 13 and Reika ended up idolizing him for years.

Reika ended up  being the genius of the family. Before she even reached the Shinigami equivalent of teenage age, Reika was the fourth seat to the Twelfth Division. She ended up being her Captain's greatest helper until he finally retired. For a few years, no one was suited for the Captaincy or they didn't want it, so when Reika reached the equivilant to the age of sixteen, she became Captain. Reika gained her bankai on accident after fighting a high level Arrancar. She pretty much laughed the incident off and returned from a mission claiming to be Captain without any official announcement. She sort of just decided she was Captain. People went with it and could argue since she did the paperwork.

Reika is now in her one hundred and thirty fourth year as Captain of the Twelfth Division. Her years as Captain have allowed her to study Arrancar and hollow as if they were lower than the animals of the World Of The Living. She's made many major break throughs through this study, some of them being the harvesting of Arrancar reiryoku, destruction (not exercising) of hollow, and the major regeneration of cells to allow bodies to return to normal after losing limbs. Reika has become both a life savor and the craziest woman that people have ever met. Reika is currently working in on a project to medically enhance the body of Shinigami, but volunteer test subjects are getting harder and harder to find.

Zanjutsu: Reika is merely trained in the aspect of Zanjutsu.


Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance: Reika's Zanpakutō spirit is a nude woman with skin as grey as dark ash and white eyes that glow brightly. The woman has hair of white flowing fire and any time she speaks or opens her mouth that same white light glows. Her Zanpakutō spirit does not speak, but points in directions and leaves hints. Her Zanpakutō spirit also floats around, her feet never touching the ground. She's also rather playful, much more fun, and sweeter than she looks.
Zanpakutō Spirit's World: Reika's inner world is that of a lab and library. There are hundreds of shelves and book cases filled to the brim with the knowledge that Reika has collected over the years. There are books filled with her own personal memories as well, but the shelves these sit on are marked as such. There are even books that are blank, waiting to be written in. The lab is dead center of the world and is often hard for Reika to find. Luckily her Zanpakutō spirit often leaves hints and other obstacles to get through so she can find the right way to go.

Shikai Name: Korekuta (The Collector)
Shikai Appearance: Mimics what it can mimic from her opponent or previously collected power.
Shikai Abilities: When Reika activates her shikai, it acts as a collector of data. She allows herself to be struck with an attack and can automatically adjust her own reiryoku to mimic that attack to the letter. If she gets struck five times by the same person in a row, without anyone else striking her to break the chain, she'll completely understand and gain the ability to mimic the creation of every attack and technique they have in their arsenal. After the fifth time, the understanding is complete and is locked away. She can hold three of these at a time and choose when she can use them. Once they're hers, they stay that way until they've been knocked off the shelf. This happens when she gains a fourth. She can only hold three, so when she gets the fourth, the first cannot be accessed. This does not mean it can't be recollected later. It can, but still knocks off the first in her collection.

Reika only has access to one of the collected powers in her arsenal while in her shikai. She has the ability to switch through them, but only if she has ten seconds while not using any of her collected powers to do it. It's like she took one off the shelf and is playing with it, but has to clean it up and put it back before pulling out another one because the table she's using is too small to hold it all.

Because of the nature of her shikai and bankai she gains a +70 to durability while they're active.


Bankai Name: Kaihō (Liberation)
Bankai Appearance: N/A
Bankai Abilities: Reika's bankai allows her to access all three powers she had collected with her shikai at the same time. The table example used in her shikai just got much bigger, so she's able to take all of the powers off the shelf and play with them at once. The second feature of her bankai is the ability to alter and enhance the powers she collected. Reika is a scientist, so one she understands something enough to pull it apart and put it back together, she can also make modifications to her liking. For example, if Reika has someone else's ability to create blades out of thin air, she can alter it to create spears or a gun instead. She took the basic power of weapon creation they originally had and used her own reiryoku to alter it for her own preferences. To do this though, she had to have that power within her collection for at least seven days. Before seven days, it's' the original ability.
