It was way earlier in the morning than it should have been to be knocking on her Captain's door, but Kaminari was an early bird most of the time. For her to sleep in, she would have to be sick, hurt, or had dealt with an intensive training session the night before. The sun was barely rising over the Seireitei, slowly lighting the city up. Kaminari had already been waiting outside in the cool air for about ten minutes, assuming that if she had knocked on his door before the sun actually came up she would only receive a pillow to the face as her greeting. Since Genpaku was one of the few favorite people Kaminari had in the Soul Society, something she has let him know through hugs and much more energy than most can keep up with, he is who she wanted to see today. It was time to make breakfast!

"Captain Arishiiiiimmaaaa." her voice called out in the early morning air as she knocked on the door. Kaminari was not one that could easily be ignored. She kept knocked on his door until he came out to see her. She called his name louder and louder if he did not hurry up too. Once he opened the door, she quickly hid around the corner to dodge any incoming alarm clocks, pillows, or shoes. She was prepared! Once it was all clear, she pretty much invited herself inside with a cheerful stride and planted herself on one of his couches. "Good morning, Captain! So, breakfast? I found this new french toast recipe that I wanna try out." she said while pulling a folded piece of paper out of her shihakusho.

Luckily for Kaminari she didn't have to wait too long, since she wasn't the only morning person around. Granted, Genpaku also wasn't sleeping as soundly as normal either and it certainly was earlier than even he awoke normally. All that said, he opened his eyes to the sound of someone knocking on his door. He lay there for a few moments before looking to a nearby window; the sun would barely be up by now. Given the lack of urgency in the knocking, this left relatively few people who would be trying to get in touch with him at this hour. Which meant it was probably Kaminari.

Sure enough he heard her voice shortly thereafter. He sat up, yawning as he did so. Considering she'd stay out there, knocking on his door until he answered he might as well get up. He rolled out of bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he grabbed a robe to cover up with. He made his way to the door, opening it to find no one. He leaned out into the early morning chill, looking around a moment before Kaminari poked her head out into the open. He raised an eyebrow at her before heading back inside, leaving the door open for her to follow. He gave another yawn as she followed him in.
"Good morning, Captain! So, breakfast? I found this new french toast recipe that I wanna try out," she said, taking a seat on one of the couches as she produced said recipe. He thought about it for a few moments.
“Sure, that sounds good actually.” He motioned to the kitchen. “Help yourself. I'm gonna go wake up,” [i]he said with a groggy smile before disappearing back into where his room and bathroom were.

Fifteen minutes later he came walking back out, having taken a quick shower to wash away the sleep.

    “Good morning, by the way.”

Today was going to be a good day. Not having to wait for too long for Genpaku to open the door showed that he wasn't going to yell at her! Inside, she offered her cooking expertise and to her surprise, Genpaku was up for it. Kaminari hopped up from the couch and hurried into the kitchen to see what he had. His kitchen was pretty well stocked. Since Genpaku didn't go out often, this was a normal sight and one of the reasons hers wasn't. "Remember to brush your hair this time; You're a Captain not a human teenager." Kaminari called out playfully toward him as he disappeared into the back.

Kaminari set the recipe on the counter and collected the needed ingredients and tools. Within a couple minutes, she was cooking and the smell quickly slithered it's way through the apartment. With Genpaku's return, Kaminari shot him a cheerful smile. "Good morning to you too. Food will be done in less than ten minutes, so sit back." Kaminari was no professional chef, but she had recently learned about her enjoyment of cooking. She had been trying recipes with friends from all around the Seireitei, but always came to Gen with new ones first. She trusted that he would tell her if it was good or not.

With the meal finished, Kaminari set a plate of eggs, bacon, and French Toast in front of Genpaku. "There. Hope you enjoy." Kaminari sat opposite of him and began eating. She kept silent, glancing quickly back to Gen to see whether he was enjoying the meal or not. It wasn't something fancy, but there was a slight change in recipe for what she usually made. It seemed a bit sweeter and had a less eggy taste. "So..." she spoke up excitedly, "How is it?! I like it, but I'm weird sometimes."

Genpaku took a seat at the small table as Kaminari set down the food.  He raised an eyebrow, looking it over a moment; it didn't look all that different, which didn't really mean all that much.  He broke out into a smile after a moment.
“Itadakimasu,” he said before he dug in.  He didn't take too long in deciding his opinion on the French Toast.
“Pretty good.  Definitely different in taste,” he said, though it seemed he was still considering exactly whether it tasting less like egg was good or bad.    Either way, he certainly seemed to be enjoying it.

He took his eyes off his food and seemed to consider Kaminari for a few moments.

“As full of energy as ever, huh?” he asked with a smirk.  “How are you doing?  What've you been up too; its been a few days,” he asked.  A few days might not seem too significant when you counted your lifespan in centuries or more, but this was Kaminari.  She usually made it a point to pop up here or there every couple days, so of course he'd taken note of her absence.

As long as Genpaku enjoyed the food, Kaminari knew she could use the recipe again. "Good! I don't trust myself to pick out good foods; you will always be my guinea pig. Well, after myself at least. I thought it was pretty good and then brought it here. I'd rather not give you something that even I want to avoid eating. I just know my tastes are often pretty bland..." Kaminari rubbed the back of her head, "I mean, I am the one that enjoys rice cakes like people enjoy candy." Kaminari went on eating, her short legs swinging happily under the table since her toes barely grazed the floor.

"Alw-..." Kaminari stopped herself, quickly finished her bite, and then continued, "Always full of energy. That isn't something that I want to change. I noticed a while back that when I'm low on energy, people think I'm sick, sad, scared, or dying." She chuckled and considered his next question. She looked worried for a moment and then smiled. "Well, I asked Captain Saionji, the nice not the scary one, to help me with some of my training." she glanced away from him, slightly pouting, "You were busy, again, so I gave up on asking you and went to ask Midori. She recommended him."

Genpaku gave a small chuckle at her comment about how people reacted to her having low energy. He finished eating when she suddenly looked worried, then launched into her explanation. He couldn't help but smirk when she started pouting though.
“Somehow I doubt I was so busy that you couldn't have gotten my attention and asked,” he said as he stood up, picking up his plate and heading back to the kitchen.
“If you got one of the Saionji's to tutor you though, and the captain of the Second Division at that, good on you. Its only natural to seek better teachers when the old ones can't teach you anything else,” he said over his shoulder as he placed the plate in the sink.

He seemed to think on something while the water started rinsing off the crumbs and syrup from the plate.

“Hey, out of curiosity you noticed anything strange going on around lately?” he asked, and there was a strange gravity in his voice. He seemed concerned about something.

"Yeah, you're right. I could of... but... didn't." Kaminari muttered under her breath and stuck her tongue out at him. She followed his lead in taking in her plate. She came up beside him and placed her plate in the sink under his while he began to rinse. She swung her hips to the side to bump him away and grabbed onto his plate at the same time. "I got it, I got it." she said and began washing the dishes, "I have a lot I can learn from a lot of people. I just did what Midori said was a good idea. I was surprised he actually said I could train with him. Was gonna ask you, but you had an entourage. They were kind of... well, they're a bit more than annoying. Do you know how many girls stalk you?"

Kaminari thought on his question for a bit. "Uhm... You're asking on a more professional base, right? I saw Captain Fujiki staring at a wall for a while, but he's always been a little weird, so I ignored it." Kaminari finished up and dried her hands off, tossing the towel back on the counter, "That's all I can say on that, but Captain Saionji and Midori might have a thing going on. Oh, and did you know the former Head Captain is living with Sakura Hayashida? Oh, oh... And I'm pretty sure Captain J. Saionji is going to end up marrying Lady Maaya. I haven't met her yet, but the way Captain K. Saionji talks about them it sounds like they're getting there. Also, where is Kei? She on a mission? Can't find her."

Genpaku moved to the side as Kaminari pushed her way in to start doing the dishes.  He rolled his eyes, but didn't bother to fight her on it.  He started to walk off when Kaminari started talking again.  Well he, of all people, couldn't fault her for that.  After all, he'd jumped between many divisions as he had come up the ranks.  Her next comment made him stop though, looking back at her with a  quizzical look on his face.
“Apparently I am unaware,” he commented as he took a seat back at the table.

Kaminari moved to answering his question.  He filtered the information down as she prattled it off.  Much of it was gossip; things to be aware of sure, but not exactly what he was looking for.  Some of it though stuck with him.  He'd have to check on a few things.

Then Kaminari asked her question.  Genpaku tensed slightly for a moment, before relaxing.

“She is taking some time off.  I handed off most of her work to Miss Jukodo.  Though if you'd like some of the extra paperwork, I could arrange that,” he jokingly threatened.  He smirked at her a moment before the expression faded.
“Do me a favor and keep an eye out okay?  Watch your back.  Something's been off lately.”

Kaminari scoffed and shook her head. "Oh, yeah. You've got quite the fan base. Eri, Yukina, Hanae, Kiko, Haruka, Sakuya, Kaede, Junko..." Kaminari's tone became increasingly more  annoyed with each name she popped up, "Oh, and even bimbos from other Divisions. Airi, Reika, and Sumika from the third, fourth, and eleventh are a few examples there. There's a fan club following just about every Captain; did you really think you'd be immune to that? You're sillier than I thought if you did."

Kaminari took a seat across from Genpaku as their conversation continued. She raised a curious eyebrow at Genpaku's reaction over Kei. "Okay, so something is going on there..." she shrugged and waved it off, "She's been acting weird for months, so I figure it has something to do with that. I won't pry, though I'll get the information out of her one day. She can't keep secrets from me for long. I bet you anything she's got herself a man, or woman. There are rumors about her being lesbian too."

".................. HEY!" Kaminari realized what he said, "I don't need any extra paperwork! I don't have the authority to deal with most of what Kei deals with anyway! If I get more paperwork, I won't be able to train either, so your joking aside... No, thank you." Kaminari smiled again, but that faded. His warning was odd to her. She narrowed her eyes curiously at him, accompanied by a playful lip pucker. "Something is off, hm? For you to be worried about it, I'll make sure to be more alert. Well, as alert as I can be. I'm not exactly the most aware of people. You know this. I am gonna ask, how bad?"

Truth be told, Genpaku had not really put any thought towards the 'fan clubs' of the differing captains. The fact that Kaminari seemed to have an extensive list of who was around though seemed amusing to him. As to the comments about Kei, he didn't give much of an answer one way or another. He'd said he wouldn't talk about what had happened, and Genpaku was a man of his word.

He smiled when Kaminari realized his joking threat, and laughed with her at the end of it. Then she brought up his warning. He leaned back, looking at the ceiling for a few moments as he measured his words.

“Its hard to say at the moment. Things haven't been right though since last year. Something doesn't feel right, and I feel like something is coming. I don't have much hard proof, but the various problems popping up around the Seireitei have felt tangentially connected. I just haven't pieced together how yet.”

He looked back to Kaminari, giving her a wry smile.
“I just think it would be a good idea to keep an eye open. Feels like something is about to happen, and it'd be better to be on guard for it than to be caught unawares ya know?”

Knowing that Genpaku was worried about this made Kaminari worry as well. She trusted Genpaku's instincts and didn't remember him being wrong before. She replied to his wry smile with an apprehensive one. "Yeah, you're right, but that doesn't make me feel better. I know what you mean by last year, so I won't be surprised if something is my fault. I've also heard about the Twelfth acting secretive. Rumors of them betraying the Gotei have been around for awhile now." Kaminari sighed and set her elbow on the table and chin in her hand. She let a silence fall between them for a few seconds.

"Well, off that subject. You asked what I've been up to the last few days, so what about you? You were training in the field again the other day; those two newbies fainted because they didn't listen to the warning and actually tried to handle your reiatsu up close. How did your training go?"

He shook his head, genuine annoyance crossing his expression. There was a reason he had people clear out of the area whenever he did his meditation practice, and it wasn't so other could try foolhardy things like that.
“And people wonder why I leave the Seireitei to train sometimes...” he grumbled
“Much the same; its really just a matter of getting used to it so I can maintain it for greater lengths of time and such.”

    He gave a small sigh.
“Besides that, things have been generally quiet. I was thinking about taking a short patrol shift in the human world, but since there's more paperwork now I'm going to have to cancel that. I'll just have to make it up later I suppose.”

Kaminari giggled at his grumbling. "It's not your fault. You sent out your warning. If someone chooses not to listen to our Captain, it is their fault when something goes wrong." Kaminari did her best to reassure him. It wasn't that big of a deal, at least to her. She doubted it actually bothered him that much. "How are you getting used to it? You able to hold it longer?" she asked curiously. After getting that answer, Kaminari decided she was going to change the subject again. She enjoyed training sometimes, but it wasn't the most fun to talk about. However, Genpaku brought up something she was kind of interested in. "Oh?" she raised a curious eyebrow, "I haven't been out there since last year. It seems a lot of stuff is connected to last year!" Kaminari flailed her arms in irritation and then slouched with a pout. She popped her head up soon after though, the energy immediately returning. "Do you think I can join you when you go? It'll give me a break from training, and since it'll probably be a while before you get to go out, I'll probably need a vacation from Captain Saionji anyways."

"Oh. When was the last time you had a physical? Midori has contacted me about having my regular one and a check-up. Usually, I don't have to deal with her nagging because she only nags you higher-ups, but after..." Kaminari's face dulled and her annoyance showed quite a bit, "...you know. She wants me to come in again. I actually think I might..." Kaminari brought her hand over to her right lung, "I've actually had these... pains, and every now and then it's hard to breathe. That's obviously not normal, so I'm gonna get it checked out. I'm actually a bit worried about it... just a bad feeling, I guess."

He gave a shrug to her first question.
“Like anything, you get better at it with practice. In all honesty I could probably maintain the technique as long as I need to, but that'd make life hard for everyone else around here. So until I can actually reign the energy in, better to not.” Genpaku seemed to consider her request.
“I don't see why not,” he said with a smile. Truth be told he was a little concerned, considering the reasoning for Kaminari's abduction had yet to be made really clear. It as a way to get at Dai didn't feel quite right to him, but with the lack of any other motivation to be gleaned it was what they had to go on.

Kaminari moved on to another topic.

“I don't think it was too long ago, but I'm probably going to go in for another one just so she doesn't try and hunt me down,” he said with a chuckle. “She's pretty dedicated ya know.”
His mood sobered slightly. “If you're feeling pain you should go get that checked out. No reason to put it off. Go get it checked before I have to order you to do it, please? I don't need to do that to two people in the same week,” he said with a small smile.

"Oh, I know. She's definitely dedicated." Kaminari chuckled as well. Now this was a new situation for the both of them. Kaminari usually did as Genpaku said without him having to actually make it an order, no matter how many times he threatened it. However, when he told her to go to the hospital, that wasn't the case. For one, Kaminari absolutely despised going to the doctor. She hated making the appointments, waiting in the waiting room, and even the actual meeting once she finally got back into the examination room. She didn't care whether it was Midori or anyone else that was her doctor too. She avoided going for as long as she possibly could, even if the situation was serious. Genpaku didn't know this about her. In fact, there were not many people that did. It wasn't a common subject for her.

"I said I think I might; that doesn't mean I will. It'll probably go away soon anyway." Kaminari kind of contradicted exactly what she had been saying. She knew something was wrong and had a bad feeling about it. She just preferred not being told to go to the doctor. "Anyways... I'm thinking about trying to meet someone new again today." she quickly tried to change the subject, "It'll either be the older Captain Saionji, Captain Mont-something, or that red headed Lieutenant who's squad never knows where he is. I doubt I'll find him, especially if they can't, but if I get lucky and run into him, I'm gonna take advantage of it. Who do you think I should try and meet? Do you know any of them?"

Genpaku gave her a look, half exasperated half annoyed.
“Don't make me physically carry you to the Fourth Division,” he grumbled as she went about trying to change the subject. He listened to her explanation of her plan for the day and considered her questions.
“I've...interacted with the elder of the Saionji house, though I wouldn't say I really know him. I've seen the Sixth's Vice Captain a few times though I can't recall having a conversation with him when it comes right down to it. Kinda the same situation with the Captain of the Seventh as well.

Not sure who you should try and meet either. The Captain of the Sixth Division may be difficult to have a conversation with though; he's generally pretty busy from what I hear. Beyond that, there was that whole dustup with the noble houses recently.”
    He gave a shrug.

Kaminari refused to look his way when he threatened her. "You'd probably do it too..." she muttered and then went to change the subject. It worked since he didn't try to pull the subject back. "Well, I guess I'll have to see where the day is going to take me then. My goal of meeting every Captain and Lieutenant is almost complete!" Kaminari put her arms in the air triumphantly and giggled before she dropped them. She put her hand on her chin. "When the empty positions are filled, remember to tell me, okaaay?" she asked sweetly, batting her eyes at him as she put her hands together.

After a moment, she inhaled deeply and stretched before getting to her feet. "Alright! Time to start my day." Kaminari walked behind Genpaku and leaned over the back to give him a quick hug, her feet coming off the ground when she did. "And I'll make an appointment about the pains, okay? Don't drag me anywhere. I'll do it, I promise." Kaminari just smiled and made her way to the front door. "Have a good day. See you tonight, Genpkau. Oh... And I'll probably be late, so I can't promise any dinner. Later!" And with that final note, Kaminari waved and left his home to continue about her day.
